Apple Pecan Squares Base: 2 cups flour ¾ cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon baking soda ¾ cup butter 1 egg, slightly beaten 2 cups finely shopped apples Preheat oven to 350º. In a large bowl combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and baking soda. Cut in butter until it resembles small peas. In small bowl, combine egg and chopped apples, add to flour mixture. Press firmly into bottom of 9-inch greased baking dish. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes. Topping: ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons honey 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons milk While cake is baking combine all topping ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook for 1 minute. Pour over warm cake and return to oven for an additional 6 minutes. Cool and serve with whipped cream.
