WYO BEEF AMBASSADORS
Mission:
The Wyoming Beef Ambassador Program (WBAP) strives to provide an opportunity for collegiates to educate consumers and students about nutrition, food safety, and stewardship practices of the beef industry. Wyoming Beef Ambassadors tell their beef production story to consumers and students through promotion, education, media, and the online environment. The ambassadors advocate on behalf of the beef industry as they develop leadership, communication, and self-confidence skills to prepare them for the workforce.
Wyoming Beef Ambassador Expectations:
During their one-year term from January-December, the Wyoming Beef Ambassadors will travel throughout the state of Wyoming to promote the beef industry through educational programs, presentations, special events, and social media. Approved travel expenses will be reimbursed through the program ($500 each). Each ambassador is expected to lead four events of their choice. Possible events include but are not limited to:
● Presentations/readings to K-12 classrooms
● State fair booth
● Boys and girls club
● University campus activity
● Wyoming Women in Agriculture

Wyoming Beef Ambassadors are required to provide documentation of their events through photos and a completed report. Each Ambassador is expected to create one social media post a month advocating for the beef industry. Ambassadors are encouraged to complete the Beef Quality Assurance and the Master of Beef Advocacy Program. Upon completion of their term, Wyoming Beef Ambassadors are encouraged to apply for the National Collegiate Beef Advocacy Program (https://ancw.org/cbap).

1) Professionalism
Each contestant will be scored on their level of professionalism, including their attire and speech.
2) Presentation
Each contestant will give a 5-minute talk covering why they are applying to WBAP, what they want to get out of it, and events they are interested in leading. The presentation should be a speech without the use of a slideshow. Topics can relate to any aspect of beef production including but not limited to environmental science, marketing, management, sales, conservation, public outreach, education, and/or emerging technologies.
3) Issue response
Each contestant will be scored on their ability to respond to one topic or question regarding the beef industry. Responses should be no longer than 1 minute. Topic examples include animal welfare, antibiotics, plant-based alternatives, environmental footprint of beef, marketing, etc.
The Wyoming Beef Ambassadors will be selected based on their total points accumulated during the contest. Contestants will be notified the following week in December if they were selected as one of the year’s Wyoming Beef Ambassadors.
